Cyndi Himmelstiere: Shoreditch Has Discovered NASA’s Nuclear Rocket and Built a Pitch Deck

A man in a very good hoodie told me his startup is NASA-adjacent. He has a pitch deck. The pitch deck contains the phrase orbital economy. NASA has announced a nuclear rocket. His company will service the supply chain for whatever needs servicing when nuclear rockets are running commercially. He has received angel funding. I told him this was the most Shoreditch thing I had ever been told. He took it as a compliment. I had intended it as pure classification: this is E1, 2026.

The Barista’s Assessment

I cover this beat because it is where the future arrives first in prototype form before anyone has decided if it works. The nuclear rocket is a prototype. The orbital supply chain startup is a prototype of the response to the prototype. The barista at my usual coffee shop said space stuff again when I came in. She has heard several orbital economy pitches this week. She described the quality as enthusiastic. She described the tips as also enthusiastic, in a different direction. The London Prat has the big picture. I have the barista’s assessment. The neighbourhood that was once about art, then about tech, is now apparently about space. The rent will reflect this shortly.
